Hun Xen of Cambodia and Abhisit Vejjaiva of Thailand met for 15 minutes outside of the 8th ASEM meeting in Brussels, Belgium, on 04 October. Sry Thamrong, Hun Xen’s minion minister, indicated that during the meeting, Abhisit informed Hun Xen that Thailand had invited Cambodia’s minister of Information (Khieu Kanharith) and reporters to visit Thailand in mid-October for a cultural and art exchange between the two countries. The two leaders focused on the arrangement for troops from both armies to return back to normalcy, just like how it was prior to 15 July 2008 (the date of Thai troops invasion to Preah Vihear). The pair considers the presence of Thai troops at Wat Keo Sekha Kiri Svarak and a number of other regions as a powder keg and that armed clashes could take place if a misunderstanding occurs. The two promised to continue the discussion during the upcoming 17th ASEAN summit meeting in Vietnam at the end of October in order to continue to resolve the remaining issues.
